My Memories - A digital Scrapbooking Software Program

Hi Everyone!

I am about to do something I don't normally do, but I think it may interest some of you!  As you may or may not know, I also do digital scrapbooking.  I actually designed digital scrapbooking kits before I got into digital stamps, which is more my calling but, I think that this may interest some of you.

Digital Scrapbookers use many programs to produce a digital scrapbook page that they can either print out at home, at the local printing outlet (like Walmart, or Rite Aid), or send off to have professionally bound in books.  Digital Scrapbooking is very versatile and the products can be reused over and over (not so with traditional scrapbooking products).  The ability to be more creative is also a plus and the pages are simply beautiful!  Not to mention it is faster and ultimately cheaper than traditional scrapbooking!

For my digital scrapbook work, I ususally use Adobe Photoshop CS5, but MyMemories has asked me to review their software for Digital Scrapbooking, so I said OK, I will.  Now, I am used to CS5 so it took me a little bit to get the hang of a simpler program, but from what I have seen, this is a great program for those that want to get into digital scrapbooking without the $100 dollar investment in Photoshop Elements or the $600 investment in Photoshop CS5.  The MyMemories Software Suite is easy to use, has a nice interface and is quite flexible.  I will give it a two thumbs up for beginners and intermediate users that are  not interested in doctoring up their purchased digital elements!  If you are looking for a program to scrap and go, this is your ticket!  At a price of $38.00 ($28.00) if you use the coupon code STMMMS5966 at www.mymemories.com, it is a real bargin.  Not to mention, that you can use outside content, such as kits and whatnot you have purchased through other digital scrapbooking sites!  It is as easy as browsing folders!  Plus, www.mymemories.com has a boatload of great digital kits at great prices!  These kits, once purchased, can be downloaded directly into your MyMemories software!  So you are ready to rock and roll!  They even allow you to download a trial, fully working version to try before you buy.  (it is a rather large program, over 1GB) but well worth the wait for it to download and install.

AND, get this, for you digital stampers, you can open up, resize and print your digital stamps and digi papers with the MyMemories software suite!  That is the main reason I agreed to review this software.  I wanted to look at something that could be used across the board.  Now, even with the limitations, (and there are a couple), it is a great program for getting your digi stamps printed out!  And, again, cheaper than either PSE or PS, or even PSP (Paint Shop Pro).

Just so  you can compare, side by side,  (or over and under, lol) I have created the same digital scrapbook layout with Photoshop CS5 and MyMemories.  I want you to tell me which is which.

Layout 1

Layout 2

These layouts were created with just a bit different placement of the elements so I could tell the difference!  Both are saved as a .jpg file, so I could upload them to any gallery or photo sharing site, or send in an email if I wished!
Both use the Mod Bungalow Digital Scrapbook kit available at www.scrapgirls.com.  I used outside products just to show you that it can be done with the MyMemories Software Suite

Leave a comment on which one you think is MyMemories, and you will be entered into a drawing to receive a FREE copy of the MyMemories V3 Software Suite!

To be honest, if I didn't know what the names of the files were, I wouldn't know which is which!

This contest will be running until the 15th of March!  I will draw a winner using Random.org on March 16th and announce the winner in a blog post.  Also, leave your email so that I can notify you in the event that you win!

  3. OMG! This is such a timely post! I have been wanting to try PS for digital scrapbooking but it seemed a bit complicated unless I blindly followed some tutorials for specific layouts. I then heard about MyMemories and gave a very brief try. I hadn't made up my mind but then MyMemories sent me a coupon via email where the whole V3 full fledge licensed copy would cost me barely $15. I couldn't resist, so I purchased it. I am so happy to read your good reviews on it. I have plenty of third party free/purchased kits which I would like to try. I can't tell which one is which above except that I see the branch is placed differently on the second one. I will give someone else a chance to win since I bought mine already. I can't wait to try and create a page as beautiful as yours. If you know of tuts or you can share some wisdom on this software, please do:) Thanks so much for reaffirming my purchase! Sorry for the long rant!
