My Memories - A digital Scrapbooking Software Program

Hi Everyone!

I am about to do something I don't normally do, but I think it may interest some of you!  As you may or may not know, I also do digital scrapbooking.  I actually designed digital scrapbooking kits before I got into digital stamps, which is more my calling but, I think that this may interest some of you.

Digital Scrapbookers use many programs to produce a digital scrapbook page that they can either print out at home, at the local printing outlet (like Walmart, or Rite Aid), or send off to have professionally bound in books.  Digital Scrapbooking is very versatile and the products can be reused over and over (not so with traditional scrapbooking products).  The ability to be more creative is also a plus and the pages are simply beautiful!  Not to mention it is faster and ultimately cheaper than traditional scrapbooking!

For my digital scrapbook work, I ususally use Adobe Photoshop CS5, but MyMemories has asked me to review their software for Digital Scrapbooking, so I said OK, I will.  Now, I am used to CS5 so it took me a little bit to get the hang of a simpler program, but from what I have seen, this is a great program for those that want to get into digital scrapbooking without the $100 dollar investment in Photoshop Elements or the $600 investment in Photoshop CS5.  The MyMemories Software Suite is easy to use, has a nice interface and is quite flexible.  I will give it a two thumbs up for beginners and intermediate users that are  not interested in doctoring up their purchased digital elements!  If you are looking for a program to scrap and go, this is your ticket!  At a price of $38.00 ($28.00) if you use the coupon code STMMMS5966 at www.mymemories.com, it is a real bargin.  Not to mention, that you can use outside content, such as kits and whatnot you have purchased through other digital scrapbooking sites!  It is as easy as browsing folders!  Plus, www.mymemories.com has a boatload of great digital kits at great prices!  These kits, once purchased, can be downloaded directly into your MyMemories software!  So you are ready to rock and roll!  They even allow you to download a trial, fully working version to try before you buy.  (it is a rather large program, over 1GB) but well worth the wait for it to download and install.

AND, get this, for you digital stampers, you can open up, resize and print your digital stamps and digi papers with the MyMemories software suite!  That is the main reason I agreed to review this software.  I wanted to look at something that could be used across the board.  Now, even with the limitations, (and there are a couple), it is a great program for getting your digi stamps printed out!  And, again, cheaper than either PSE or PS, or even PSP (Paint Shop Pro).

Just so  you can compare, side by side,  (or over and under, lol) I have created the same digital scrapbook layout with Photoshop CS5 and MyMemories.  I want you to tell me which is which.

Layout 1

Layout 2

These layouts were created with just a bit different placement of the elements so I could tell the difference!  Both are saved as a .jpg file, so I could upload them to any gallery or photo sharing site, or send in an email if I wished!
Both use the Mod Bungalow Digital Scrapbook kit available at www.scrapgirls.com.  I used outside products just to show you that it can be done with the MyMemories Software Suite

Leave a comment on which one you think is MyMemories, and you will be entered into a drawing to receive a FREE copy of the MyMemories V3 Software Suite!

To be honest, if I didn't know what the names of the files were, I wouldn't know which is which!

This contest will be running until the 15th of March!  I will draw a winner using Random.org on March 16th and announce the winner in a blog post.  Also, leave your email so that I can notify you in the event that you win!

Happy Manic Monday to you all and a Category Sale!

Good Morning everyone!  Hope you all are having a wonderful day!  Me, well, I'm making it the best I can!  Its a bit chilly here, and one of those stay inside days!  As I have been working this week on my newest drawings, I began to think about the Manic Monday offering and all of those lovely customers that miss out because of the time differences.  It's just not fair.  Soooooooooo, I came up with this.  Manic Monday will remain, but, the freebie will be up all week!  That way everyone has the time to get it!  Just seemed  like the right thing to do.  Yeah, Ill lose some sales, and hey, that's ok.  I just want my followers and customers to be able to get what I offer on their own schedule!  So instead of being good for only a couple days, now you can get your Manic Monday freebie, up until the following Saturday evening at midnight.  Typically Sunday is when I do the store maintenance, upload the next batch of goodies to the shelves and make corrections so I like to give myself one day when I can do this without messing too much up for my customers.  I do hope you all like this new change.  If you have questions or concerns about it, please let me know via email and I will do my best to sort it all out for you!

Starting this week as well, I will be setting a different category on sale each week!  This week the Category is Animals/Birds/Creatures.  Everything in this category is 25% off until Saturday, at Midnight!  No coupon necessary, and yes, you can use your BOGO coupon with this as well as well as your freebie!  How is that for a deal!

Now,  being that Sunday has past, I have uploaded some great new goodies for you all!  So let's get right to it!

All of the above new products can be found in the NEW PRODUCTS area of the shop!

A new feature is coming to the shop shortly!  ***INSPIRATION AVENUE***!  I have a great product design team, with Stef and Susan!  And soon, all of the wonderful cards and crafts that they create with my images and paper packs will be all in one place for you to view, with links to the products that they used!  I think it will be a great addition to the shop!  Sort of a gallery of great ideas!  As soon as it is up and running smoothly, I will let you all know!

NOW, on to the Manic Monday (all week) FREEBIE!

Tea Time Stacked Teacups!
Manic Monday All Week Freebie!
I love my tea, and this is a really cute little image!  I can see it as wall art or on an invitation to a spring tea party!  I do hope you enjoy!  You will be able to get this great freebie until Saturday, March 3rd at midnight.  After that time it will revert back to $3.00.

Now, on to another funny little story!   (You would think by now, Mark and I would learn to carry around a video camera and make a living off of America's Funniest Home Videos!)  Alas, we are more worried about the fun part and not the film part!  So sit back, relax, and get ready to think,  "What were they thinking!"

Friends and Firecrackers!

In 2009, we were visiting Julie, Cacie and Colin in Gainesville Florida.  Julie and Cacie are Mark's lovely daughters.  This happened to occur around the 4th of July, but I guess you already had that part figured out.  We had firecrackers, smoke bombs, sparklers, food, 4 wheelers, go carts, and what not outside in the yard.  We also had a sling shot........so here goes the story!

Colin:  Hey Jess, look at this great arm mounted sling shot!
Me:   Ohhhhhh neat, can I see it?
Colin:  Sure!
Mark, Julie and Cacie:  Lighting sparklers!
Me:  Colin, got a firecracker?
Colin:  Yeap.
Me:  Ok, load me up and wait til I pull it back and then light it and we will send it up in the air to blow up!
Colin:  Ok.
Me:  Pulling back the slingshot and waiting for Colin to light the rather large firecracker.
FIRECRACKER LIT AND SHOT RELEASED!   *****POOOOOOOWWWWWW*****
Mark:  How did you all get that way up there?
Me:  With this....showing off Colin's slingshot!
Colin:  Smiling proudly
Mark:  Yeah, its all fun til somebody puts their eye out.
Colin:  These have lonnnnnng fuses!
Mark:  OOOOOKayyyyyy?
Me:  Ready for the next one?
Colin:  Yeap, got it right here.
Me:  Loaded up and ready.
Mark, Cacie, and Julie:  Lighting more sparklers and other pretties on the other side of the vehicle.
Colin:  Lights the firecracker.
Me:  I pull it back for release
*******PPOOOOOOOWWWWWWWW******
(Im sure you can guess what happened but Im gonna tell you anyway!)
Me:   My ears are ringing, my left eye is burning and I have no eyelashes or part of an eyebrow on the left side.
Mark:  Comes over running, scared to death.
Colin:  Picking up the sling shot from the ground.
Cacie and Julie:  Looking extremely confused and concerned.
Me:  Between laughing and crying, saying..."I can't see, I can't see"
Mark:  Runs to get ice and my sunglasses.
Me:  Miserable, but in a strange way, excited about having launched at least one good shot.
Mark:  Still shaking his head and trying not to laugh!
Yes, it was funny, extremely dangerous and potentially sight-threatening, but funny none the less!
MORAL:  Im not allowed to have slingshots or firecrackers anymore LOL!

And you all wonder what is wrong with me.....now you know lol!  I did not lose my eyesight but for two days, and the eyelashes and eyebrow grew back just fine!

Well, I do hope you all enjoyed today's little post, all the new goodies and the little funny story!

I will be working on some new stuff this week, so stay tuned!

Remember, only a few more followers for the blog and the next 25$ coupon will be awarded!

So until later in the week.

MANIC MONDAY.....AND A SALE! ***ITS ALL ABOUT THE FLOWERS!****

Hi Everyone,  Good Manic Monday Morning to you all!  I apologize for the lateness of this post, but we were hit with some bad weather and had power issues for a bit!

First:  Let me thank all of you for your well wishes and concern for my poor little shoulder!  They really lifted my spirits through this whole ordeal!  You guys are the greatest!

UPDATE:  Dr. says that there are torn ligaments and tendons, along with a few that are stretched, and they are being pinched in the socket!  How lovely is that?  The only options are.....modified use, and tylenol  now and again, or surgery and much rehab, and still probably modified use and tylenol now and then....which is worse?  Im not sure at this point!  At the bottom of this post, you can read the "funny story" that is in part to blame for this injury!  (it really is funny!)

Second bit of news!   It has been a bit of a mild mild winter here in SE Kentucky.  I think Mother Nature is apologizing for last winter!  It was a real bugger!  So, my crocuses and tulips are coming up, the peas are planted and the garden plants are started in the mini greenhouse upstairs by the attic window.....it is nice and warm up there! All of this begs for a SALE....yep, you heard me right...a sale....How about 30% off any stamp or paperpack in the Flowers/Floral Category at the shop???????    Just gets you in the mood for spring doesn't it!  AND, your BOGO coupon will work as well with the sale, so that is a bonus!  Now I am adding quite a few flower images today (Flowers are my all time favorite) and a set of seed markers.  Who says digi stamps are only for cards?  I got the herbs, the veggies, flowers, and a few others for you all included in packs.  Print them out, color them up, laminate them and attach them to marker stakes and your garden or window box will look fabby before and after your plants come up!  I for one am all for pretty!  And yes, they would look good on cards as well.  Im working on finding some vintage seed packets as well that I can draw inspiration from and create some vintage type stamps as well.  Still in the searching process on this one!

Now, for the preview of the new products!!!!!!  Oh goodie goodie!

Shaded Iris

Scrolling Vine

Pretty Shaded Flower

Koi III

Herb Plant Marker Tags

School Girl Reading

Flowers in a Glass

Bouquet II

Floral Monogram Frame V

All of the above stamps can be viewed in the New Products Category at the shop.  I figured it was easier just to link to the category so everyone didn't get lost.   I know I do from time to time when I put in a large amount of stamps!

There will be several more floral stamps going in this week and yes, they will all be on sale as well!

And now, what you all have been waiting for!!!!  The Manic Monday Freebie!

Roses Frame

Yes, I am in a "Flower Mood"  Again!  I saw my first two bloomed out daffodils on Sunday and they were simply beautiful!  That sunny yellow color against the brown and gray of a waning winter!  I think daffodils are one of the first harbingers of spring!  The crocuses are up, not bloomed yet, the tulip leaves have broken ground, and there is a ton of new growth on the blackberry and raspberry vines!  Oh berry season equals wine making season! (and probably a few wine/berry inspired stamps too!)  Just pop on over to the shop and grab Roses Frame for your Manic Monday Freebie!

Remember, there is a sale on Flowers/Florals and I threw in Frames too, because there are a lot of flowers blooming in that category as well!  They are all 30% off!

I wanted to have some Store product designs ready to show off today, but with the shoulder, the weather and well, just general stuff, I have not gotten that setup completed yet, but I am working like a mad woman on it.

Now, last week, I promised you a funny story that will explain some of the shoulder injury.  Im giving you the reader's digest version, because it is funnier, and leaves out the unnecessary babble!  So Here We Go!

June 2006 - The Great Jet Ski Debacle!

Me:  Mark, lets go to the lake property and see Mom and the fam and ride the jet skis.
Mark:  Okie dokie, but I have only driven a jet ski once and that wasn't pretty.
Me:  Oh thats ok, we have a learners key that will keep it under control for you!
Mark:  Im too big for a baby key, if I drive it I want the Big Boy Key.
Me:  Ok, only cause I love you.
Mark:  (Wicked little boyish smile....gotta love him)
Fast Forward 2 hours:
Lake Property - Lake Hamilton Florida (US Hwy 27)
Dad:  Jet ski is all ready, and I have the tow rope and saucer ready to ride! (the saucer is a large inflatible ride that is towed behind the jet ski with a tow rope.)
Mark:  Im driving first.
Me:  Here is the big boy key, but be careful.
Mark:  You are on the saucer,,,,,I don't do those types of rides.
Me:  OK (ive done this plenty of times!)
Mark:  Starts the jet ski right on up and slowly pulls away from the beach.
Me:  Gets on the saucer and grabs the handholds (rubber wrapped nylon hand grips!)
Mark:  Gets up to a decent speed so that the saucer and I will ride nicely behind him.
Me:  Giving a nod for him to pick up the speed a bit.........BIG MISTAKE to tell a race car driver to pick up the speed!
Mark:  Follows orders to the letter.......kicks it up to nearly 40 miles an hour!
Me:  Hanging on for dear life!
Mark:  Sharp turn at 40 mph (which equals about 70 mph for the saucer and myself)
Me:  Airborne!  Arm slid through the hand hold up to the armpit and then the handhold jerks the shoulder socket (at 70 mph), sending me flying and smacking the water with a sharp thud! (good thing it was only 6 ft deep!)
Mark:  Kinda laughing, cause neither one of us realized what I had done to my shoulder.
Mom:  On the shore screaming cause she thought he killed me!
Me:  Ohhhhh what fun.....lets do that again, just a bit slower next time.
Mark: (wicked boyish grin.......which spells trouble)
Me:  Back on the Saucer.
Mark:  Back on the Jet Ski.
Story repeats itself, only this time I got yanked around for about 2 blocks (distance wise) on the water by that very same handhold then, went airborne again, hit the water, knocked the wind out of me, and Mom really thought I was dead that time.
Me:  I thought I was too.  I finally started to feel the pain of the first yank, combined with the second yank and knew I had probably done something I should not have done and had the good sense to know not to do but did anyway!

Now, at the time, this entire episode took about oh 30 minutes to transpire.  Somebody should have had the good sense to stop me BEFORE I even got on that thing with Mark Driving.  But the things you do when you love and trust someone.   Now, Mark never intended to make me fly off......He just didn't realize that it would happen like it did.  We were having the time of our lives!

If you all could have seen the look on his face, you all would have felt so bad for him.  He really was scared after it was all over.  And we never have taken the jet ski out again with the saucer behind it.  Wonder why that is?

So now you know some of the issues behind why a simply fall from a recliner could mess me up so badly.  Because I was already messed up to start with!    For 5 years this has never healed and all it took was a sharp smack to bring it all back to the front!

Ok, story over, and I hope you got a chuckle from it cause I sure did when I typed it....It really was funny!

I do hope you all enjoyed today's post!  Remember the sale and keep checking back for all the new goodies this week!

Update: Shoulder and Manic Monday Freebie

Hi All!   Well, the Dr.s appt went ok....waiting for results of the scans now.  Soooooooo, sitting on pins and needles hoping that no surgery will be involved.  But more on that when I get the results.

On to the Manic Monday Freebie issue:
I have received quite a few emails concerning the coupon code not working.   The usual fix for this is to go to www.floppylattedesigns.com/catalog.   Many of you are visiting StitchyBear Stamps, which I think is great because I also co-own that digi store as well, but the Coupon Code MMHEART will ONLY work at www.floppylattedesigns.com/catalog.

If you find that your coupon code is not working, double check to see which store you are in.  I do apologize for all the confusion and will make sure to list the correct link to my store next Monday.

Now I am off to TRY to draw a few new stamps today!  Wish me luck!  :-)  !

Manic Monday and a dreaded Dr. Appt

Hey Everybody,

Let me apologize in advance for the shortness of this post!  I have an Dr.'s appointment scheduled today, and my shoulder is feeling no better, and actually worse today.  I tried to draw all week and it just would not cooperate with me sitting in my chair, and drawing while sitting in the recliner (seat belt attached :-)  ) was not working either so, I had to break down and just make the appt.  So this ought to be really fun...NOT.  But I did not want you all to go without your weekly Manic Monday Fix, so I am giving you a little valentine early!  A Manic Monday Choice!  Just use coupon code MMHEART and get any $3.00 stamp in the shop for Free today.  I am also leaving the coupon code on until midnight Tuesday night for all of the West coast shoppers!

I will do my level best to have some new drawings done this week, if the arm will cooperate, and will be posting up some of my Product design team's newest creations as well.  It has just been one of those weeks!

Now I am off to wrestle with a thermal (below 20 deg. here) a long sleeve shirt, and a jacket, to head out!  It will take me an hour to get ready....not fun!

I hope you all have a great Monday and an even better rest of the week!

Truly a "Manic Monday" New Goodies, A Funny or Two, Pretty Product Designs, and other What Not

"Last day for the 50% off Sale!"

Good Morning Everyone.   I realize this post is like 7 hours late in coming out but the Super Bowl created Casualties in the Gill/McKnight Household!  Put it like this  Mark/Recliner 1  Me 0!  After a great meal, good company and lots of fun, it was time to sit down and watch the game.  I decided to share the recliner with Sir Markus. (Actually, he invited me to share.....how very gentlemanly of him!  He is like that you know!)  Well, I perched my happy self on the arm of the recliner which is very cushy, and proceeded to watch the game!  The play towards the end was what got me!  The inbound sideline play to be more exact!  Well, I threw up my hands, yelled "YAY!" and promptly fell sideways off the recliner arm and smacked the floor sharply with my left shoulder (which has been previously injured in the "Great JetSki Debacle!"  Now I can't lift my arm much higher than my desk and have to rest it on a pillow!  Oh what a great way to start the day!  So, now I have to modify my workout schedule, look like a contortionist to put my shirts on, and forget about scratching my ear with my left hand!   Ive resorted to putting the laptop in my lap to type so I don't have to move the shoulder too much!  There, that is my idiot move for the week......No more recliner arm sitting for me for a while!  Mark will just have to come over to the couch and sit with me!

Onward!  I did manage to get a few things done over the past week (month end closing at my job and that is a nightmare, I can tell you!) And...Im making a change to the B3G1, it will now be buyer's choice and permanent!  Ill go into that at the end of this post!

Now for a little funny.....At Mark's Expense....and I did ask permission before I posted this!

The Cookie Monster.

Once upon a time there lived a handsome fellow....We will call him Sir Markus.  Sir Markus was not the most tech savvy handsome fellow in the world.  Now Sir Markus was having a bit of a problem with his computer running slowly, and a young damsel, (and I did not ask what her name was) proceeded to assist him in finding the problem.......
Damsel:  What's the problem?
Sir Markus:  My computer is soooo slow.
Damsel:  Do you have Cookies?
Sir Markus:  Yeah, I have cookies in the cabinet in the kitchen.
Damsel:  No, do  you have cookies in your computer?
Sir Markus:  No, I didn't eat any cookies at the computer.
Damsel:  No, your computer has cookies.
Sir Markus:  No, there are no cookies at my computer and I haven't eaten any cookies at my computer....are you sure you are on the right planet?
Damsel:  No, your computer has cookies.....little tags in its cache.  (Damsel says this with a look of utter dismay at the fact that the handsome man has no idea what she is talking about..)
Sir Markus:  Blank Look
Damsel:  Cleans out the cookies from the computer.
Sir Markus:  Well, the computer runs faster now.
Damsel:  Never heard from again.

True story

*******************************************************************************
Now, remember the B3G1 special every week?  Well, thanks to my little survey and my lovely customer's participation in the B3G1, I have decided to make it a customer choice each and every day.  And this is how it will work.  There is still a $7.00 minimum order.  And the BOGO coupon code stays the same.  What changes is when you put the $7.00 of stamps in your cart, you then pick one more stamp of your choice, enter the coupon code and $3.00 will be deducted from your order.  Because most of my stamps are $3.00 or less, sometimes you will even get a bonus of a little extra off another stamp.  I thought this was the best way to do this since it is going to be available all the time, and you can BOGO as much as you want!   Please note:  my shopping cart only allows one coupon to be used per order, so if you have a higher value coupon, weigh your options so that you can get the best deal.  If you are not sure, please please email me and I will help you sort it all out!  As I find better and better ways to offer this, I may modify it from time to time to give you all a better shopping experience so be sure to stay tuned so that you can get all the lowdown on the new stuff!
*******************************************************************************

Well, that is about all for today!  Im going to try to draw some more today, but with this shoulder, it isn't looking good!  But rest assured, I will get you more new goodies this week!

I hope you all have a great Manic Monday and even better rest of the week!
